Quality Obstetric Care

When it comes to the care of mothers and newborns, the McLaren Macomb Family Birthing Center is proud of its team of outstanding doctors and certified nursing staff who deliver a safe, personalized birth experience for every mom and newborn.

Our goal is to provide family-centered quality care that exceeds your expectations.  That is why we incorporate your family values, knowledge and cultural background into the delivery of the highest degree of complete and individualized care.

To ensure a comfortable and positive childbirth experience, our birthing center provides an inviting setting for childbirth, including 15 private birthing suites.  These spacious modern rooms allow labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum phases to take place in one location.  Each suite features all necessary medical equipment.  Our birthing suites feature private bathrooms, rocking chairs, sleeping chairs/couches (for support persons), room service menus, full-sized televisions, telephone and wireless computer access.

Two surgical suites are available for women having Cesarean sections.

Personalized Care Services

Personal patient care gets top priority in the McLaren Macomb Family Birthing Center.  Every patient can expect to receive quality care in a soothing and positive environment.  From your arrival until departure, you will be comforted in knowing:

• A pediatrician provides care to all babies as needed
• Anesthesiologists are available 24 hours a day
• A staff obstetrician is available at all times
• Doctors and nurses use a clinical information system that intergrates documentation and fetal surveillance
• A lactation consultant is available to assist new moms who plan to breastfeed
• Case management and social work services are available
• A hearing screen is provided to all newborns
• Special Care Nursery- A special care nursery is located within the Family Birthing Center that is staffed with specially trained nursing staff that care for premature infants starting at 32 weeks and babies requiring more intensive levels of care.
• Infant Security- Both the Family Birthing Center and the Special Care Nursery are secure areas and are not open to the general public.  Only pre-verified parents and visitors are allowed entry.  Every infant wears a small tag on the ankle that is automatically connected to a security system the moment it is attached.  All exits are protected by door monitors
